Masala Chai Concentrate
Ingredients for 4-6 servings:
4 cup water
6 tbsp loose black tea (4-6 tea bags)
8 tsp chai masla
2 in fresh ginger (grated or sliced)
Pour water, chai masala and ginger to a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes covered. At this time, turn off the stove, add in your black tea and let it steep for no more than 5-10 minutes and strain the tea. If you like it sweetened, you can sweeten it at this time per taste. Let it cool and store in fridge. Will last in the fridge up to a week.
To make your iced chai latte - add concentrate, ice and milk to a cup and any sweetener of choice and enjoy! I prefer 1:1 concentrate to milk ratio but you can easily adjust it to your taste.
Note: If you’re making a masala chai concentrate for the first time, I suggest you try the recipe as written however you can easily play around with the rations of each ingredient to your taste. Happy sipping!
